Key Features of the Scheme
- Internship Duration: Each internship will last for one year, providing ample time for skill development and mentorship.
- Stipend: Interns will receive a monthly stipend of ₹4,500 from the central government through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. Additionally, companies are required to contribute ₹500 from their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.
- One-time Financial Assistance: A one-time grant of ₹6,000 will be provided to help cover initial expenses such as relocation.
- Insurance Coverage: Interns will be insured under the PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, ensuring their financial security during the internship period.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the PM Internship Scheme, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Age between 21 and 24 years.
- Must have completed at least Class 10 or higher.
- Not currently engaged in full-time employment.
- Individuals from families with government employees or those who are income tax assessees are excluded.
- Graduates from elite institutions like IITs, IIMs, or those holding CA/CMA qualifications are also ineligible.
Application Process
The application process for the PM Internship Scheme is designed to be user-friendly and transparent:
- Portal Launch: The dedicated online portal for applications will go live on October 12, 2024.
- Application Submission: Candidates can browse available internships and submit applications through this portal until October 25, 2024.
- Selection Process: The selection process will take place from October 27 to November 7, with offer letters being sent out between November 8 and 15. The first batch of interns is expected to start on December 2, 2024.
